Bournemouth beach has been voted the best beach by a popular national seaside magazine. The award took into account water quality, scenic beauty, wildlife, visitor facilities and outdoor activities. The award was voted by approximately 10,000 Coast Magazine readers.

Mark Smith head of Bournemouth Tourism said: "We are thrilled that the readers of Coast Magazine have voted Bournemouth as the Best Beach in Britain. The seafront team work extremely hard throughout the year to keep up the high standards that visitors have become accustomed to over the years. Bournemouth beach has seen a lot of investment over the last couple of years with the face lift of Bournemouth pier and new restaurant and the replenished beach making the beach even wider."

"Water quality was one of the subjects that Bournemouth was praised on and this is something we take great pride in. We can have up to 100,000 people on the beach on a hot, sunny bank holiday weekend so we want these visitors to have a good experience of the beach and to return year after year."
